Go See Art For Your Brain!!!

Go to the Gallery Really!

I sometimes think that my art is frivolous and self indulgent. It isn’t, but we all have this critic right? So I ran across an Instagram post that outlined the neuroscience of going to a gallery, the benefits were seriously amazing. I felt like a real help in the universe. I make art…… Maybe this really does help people with mental health, nervous system issues. I have been one of those affected by mental health struggles, I've been there personally.

So I pulled all my paintings out of every corner of my home. I grabbed my hammer and nails and started applying art all over my main living spaces. If a gallery experience helps,, then I want my family and friends to see my art everywhere…in my space, and I will go into town asking the small businesses if they will show my pieces.

It isn’t a whole lot, but it could make all the difference. I learned that dopamine responds to pleasure, but also to making meaning… That is so cool! So when you connect to a piece of art it is huge for your real natural dopamine, so the more a painting means to you, the more happy.

A brief visit to a gallery, with a friend is even better, and increases the pleasure. A study found that you have a significant reduction in salivary cortisol. Lower stress even just in one visit to an art gallery, and if cortisol is lowered it stays more stable through your day.

I won’t say that you should throw away medications, therapy or exercise and go see art from time to time. No, like all the rest this is another tool in your tool box to get through this life the best way possible for you, and your mind, emotions and nervous system.

I found this info on a social media post by neuroscience talk.

So I'll show you my home gallery, and hope to brighten your day. Comment down below if you have a favorite gallery in your town, and I'll add it to my list of someday travel destinations.
